Cryptocurrency, capital increase for the Italian exchange Young Platform

youngplatform_sole24ore

Only 5 months after the launch of its exchange, Young Platform has opened a capital increase and appointed a Board of Directors

Young Platform announces the opening of a new capital increase and the appointment of the Board of Directors, despite the difficult moment due to the COVID-19 emergency.

Only 5 months after the launch of the Young Platform exchange, the company, based in Turin and with an office in London, has recorded a significant growth both in terms of registered users and volumes transacted, in a market such as that of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, which seems to be reacting positively to the current financial crisis.

“In this challenging worldwide economic situation we decided not to stop but to react by announcing two important new operations”, says Andrea Ferrero CEO & Co-Founder of Young. “We have in fact opened a capital increase involving a number of highly prestigious Italian and international investors and appointed a Board of Directors whose objective is to institutionalize the company and give more and more credibility to our sector”, concludes Ferrero.

In addition to Ferrero himself, the new Board of Directors is composed of Mariano Giovanni Carozzi and Alberto Bertagnolio Licio, formerly Young’s CFO.

Carozzi has decades of experience in the banking world (first in Banca Sella and then in Banca Profilo) and for several years he has been personally involved in the evolution of the Italian fintech world (having founded Prestiamoci and having been Chairman of Tinaba).

“I decided to embrace the project because I strongly believe in its team and in the further growth of this sector, a growth which we will witness in the coming years and of which Young will be the absolute protagonist”, says Carozzi.

The company has also identified in the law firm “Gitti and Partners” (specifically in Prof. Gregorio Gitti) and in the notary Remo Maria Morone the professional figures who will guide it in the coming months in a path with the ultimate goal of making Young Platform the first fully regulated Italian exchange of cryptocurrency.

This path began a few months ago with a collaboration agreement on Anti-Money Laundering with Netech and with the subsequent inclusion within the company structure of Mr Ettore Valsecchi as AML Manager (who has thirty years of experience in the sector and who collaborates on these issues with the most important Italian financial institutions) and with the appointment of Mr Alessandro Perillo as Internal AML Manager.

“Over the last few difficult weeks, Young Platform has also entered into new partnerships with some of the most important international companies in the blockchain world, which will be announced shortly, and was supported by Helperbit in a cryptocurrency fundraising campaign for the Italian Red Cross, thus confirming that the crypto ecosystem at international level is in turmoil and more alive than ever,” says Diego D’Aquilio, CMO & Head of International Expansion of Young Platform.

Young’s Community. Follow us on Social Networks

Young Platform’s community runs on social networks, let’s keep in touch

Some of you have been with Young since the beginning, when there were only 7 of us in an apartment on the outskirts of Turin. Others arrived thanks to word of mouth and brought some novelty to our community. Finally, new users arrived: people we met around the world at crypto and blockchain events, enthusiastic young university students or, simply, Apple Store and Google Play argonauts.

What hasn’t changed, is the time we spend together on our official social networks, channels we use to tell the buzz of our offices, discuss about product functionality, keep you updated with selected content and sometimes leave the floor to the mentors who guide us in our exploration of this world.

Smart working: Interview with Young Platform’s CEO

smartworking

The easy transition to smartworking of Young Platform as a dynamic and technologic startup

At Young, we have been smart-working for a couple of weeks now, as many have, and we want to bring our experience from the perspective of CEO Andrea Ferrero. So we asked him some questions.

I: Hi Andrea, let’s start from a practical point of view: how we made the transition?

Andrea: The main platform we have introduced for smart working is Discord. It’s a program that allows you to create different “rooms” where you can speak as if on a call, so it’s a bit like a real office.

We also decided to organize weekly meetings via Google Meet, where everyone presents a topic they specialized in and that can also be useful to the rest of the team. This period of stall allows us to invest time in personal education with such events, which are also opportunities to bring the team together in one place, even if it is virtual.

I: Young Platform is a startup, is this an advantage or a disadvantage during this period?

Andrea: As a startup, it was quite easy to switch to smart-working, by definition we face daily changes of all kinds and we are always ready to adapt. We were already using many digital tools for work-flow management and communication.

I: In what other aspects did Young Platform have to adapt to face the new conditions?

Andrea: These weeks are a further incentive to reinvent ourselves and to exploit our products and resources in new ways. One example is Step: an app that revolves around people who walk, run, stroll, and that stimulates them to do so as much as possible. In these conditions, our task must no longer be to stimulate people to get out and walk. That’s why we have focused on our other lever, Education.

The Education section of Step actually wants to be an educational portal for cryptocurrencies. A section that will grow more and more, with or without viruses.

I: So what was the solution found for Step?

Andrea: Also to encourage the use of the material we provide, we have introduced the quiz format, rewarding (with YNG) the effort to learn instead of walking.

It is nice, by the way, to see how e-learning is spreading on the internet: famous musicians teaching music for free and all kinds of teachers providing their knowledge and methods. We do the same thing, except that we were already doing it before.

I: How have the relationships between the people around Young Platform changed? Employees, investors and the team itself…

Andrea: As far as the communication with our investors is concerned, this is another element that we have converted to digital. Our work doesn’t stop, which is why correspondence with our stakeholders doesn’t have to stop either.

The first thing we have to pay attention to every day, however, is the team, made up of people who must be protected, who must remain close together despite the fact that the days are no longer the same, despite the fact that the meetings are through everyone’s screens. We are very lucky to be friends and to have known each other for a long time. We don’t feel that gap due to distance, instead, we keep joking and supporting each other. We work in constant communication on Discord. This allows us to recreate the same office atmosphere while maintaining the same productivity and focus.

I: As we’re sure everyone needs them, any positive thoughts on the situation in the industry?

Andrea: As a technology enthusiast and a fervent supporter of digitalisation, for obvious reasons, I am very happy with the digital education that this terrible phenomenon is making practically compulsory. It is certainly a challenge for many, but I am sure we will all benefit in the long run and many will discover new worlds, perhaps even our own world, that of cryptocurrency.

Join Young Platform and the Italian Red Cross in the fight against the Coronavirus

Young Platform is here to play its part with the Italian Red Cross  and Helperbit, by launching a fundraising campaign in Bitcoin for the purchase and setup of an advanced field hospital for the COVID-19 pre-triage.

Now is the time to make your contribution and give your support. Italy is teaching the whole world that in times of real crisis we are able to respond to emergencies with speed and great pragmatism.

Young Platform was selected for Slush Helsinki

Today Young Platform had the pleasure to present its exchange platform at the greatest investors’ meeting in the world: Slush Helsinki.

Over the past five years, Slush has become the world’s largest venture capital fundraising event. In 2018, more than 1,800 investors joined Slush, representing a capital of over $200 billion. This year, the number of investors has risen to 2,000 and they are going to consider more than 3,500 startups at the Expo and Convention Center in Helsinki.

With an invested capital of $100 million, 2019 has been the best year of the decade for European technology companies.

Slush is, therefore, another essential step in the process of Young Platform’s internationalisation, an opportunity to exchange views with other emerging companies and meet a crowd of investors who are vertical on the technology sector.

We look forward to seeing you at our stand!

Young Platform at the Lisbon Web Summit: the journey continues

Lancement de l'échange au Lisbon Web Summit

In Lisbon to present the exchange Young Platform and talk about the future of blockchain.

Young Platform had the pleasure and the honor to attend the 2019 edition of the Lisbon Web Summit, the most important event dedicated to technology and startups in the world.

The numbers are impressive: during these 4 days (from 4 to 7 November) more than 70,000 people participated, including 1,500 investors and 2,000 journalists.

As far as the Young Team is concerned, CEO Andrea Ferrero, COO Alexandru Stefan Gheban, CTO Samuele Raimondo, CMO Diego D’Aquilio, Innovation Manager Alessandro Perillo and our Advisor Mariano Carozzi attended the event.

It was an indescribable emotion for us to be able to present our flagship product: the exchange Young Platform, with which you can buy and sell the main cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum in a simple, fast and secure way.

During these 4 days we have been able to exchange views with startups, entrepreneurs, investors and visitors from all over the world who gave us their feedback on our project.

On the opening night, we were impressed by Edward Snowden’s speech live from Russia that made us further understand how much a new phase of the web is needed (the so-called Web 3.0) of which the blockchain will be the backbone technology.

While speaking with the fintech market leaders (including Revolut and eToro) we established that the financial market is in great difficulty and that the “traditional” players will have to completely reinvent themselves if they want to survive.

The organisation of the event was quite impressive: hundreds of volunteers from all over the world helped make this experience memorable, also by making life easier for all of us exhibitors.

Ultimately, we can say that the Web Summit is an actual experience, and not just an event, from which we return motivated to achieve all the ambitious goals we have set for ourselves, starting with the official launch of our exchange Young Platform.

See you next year, Lisbon

Young Platform is now partner with the Mauriziano Hospital of Turin

Post your steps during the day, collect points and win medical services!

Are you out with your four-legged friend? Are you shopping through the streets of the city centre? Or are you a marathon runner training? Walking is a daily gesture that can help maintain our health, but we are often unaware of it.

This is why, with the Mauriziano Hospital in Turin, we are creating an app to help people with cardiovascular problems, based on the simple act of walking.

Collaborate with us on the project to help us win the “La prevenzione scorre” (“prevention runs”) contest.

Only by winning the contest will we be able to create the app!

How to help us

Post on Facebook a photo of the km/miles covered during the day (for example with a screenshot of the Health app) and remember to insert the tag of the initiative @la prevenzione scorre, the hashtag #scorre18 and the movement mode: #bike or #foot

The project

Walking is an activity that is good for cardiovascular health and it is less practiced by those who need it most. An American study on 30,000 subjects indicates the activity of walking is less practiced among those with risk factors (obesity, diabetes / dyslipidaemia, hypertension) or suffering from cardiovascular disease.

To encourage people to change their lifestyle, we have devised a strategy that is based on rewarding the steps taken during the day. The steps are calculated by a free App, “MindStep”, which updates the results in real time, shows the history of your progress, creates a ranking of the most active “walkers” and converts the amount of steps collected into points that you can spend in health bonuses.

A simple walk can, for instance, give access to a cardiological and nutritional counselling aimed at prevention, or athletic and osteopathic therapy to correct and prevent activity-limiting disorders, or a workshop in breathing techniques and autonomous training.

Thanks to the App, people can have the increased perception that even a simple daily gesture like walking translates into a real gain in health and savings for medical examinations, as well as an effective method of prevention.

We want to promote interactive, new and informed health education. In this way, the health programme becomes an extended educational tool that provides handy examples, testimonials, and reminders of virtuous behaviour through push notifications, verification of the strategic detail of one’s lifestyle and video-recordings of the breathing techniques taught during the autonomous training day. Combined with the game-like functionality of the App and sharing on social networks, this supports those who start to change their lifestyle and rewards those who are already active, encouraging them to do well and feel better.

Young Platform at the Barcelona Trading Conference

The Barcellona Trading Conference: for Young Platform an opportunity to learn about the latest developments of the technology and to network with internetional experts.

On the 10th and the 11th of July, the Crypto-Industry leaders will gather inside the CCIB in Barcelona for the Barcelona Trading Conference (BTC).

Key players from every branch of the industry are going to attend: innovators, opinion leaders, brokers, exchanges, digital tech companies, but also banks and institutions. The event aims, in fact, to allow the adoption of crypto-assets by the institutions, and the attendance of the main representatives of the Catalan government (one of the top sponsors) is a guarantee of this. The crypto world doesn’t intend to remain a niche-sector, instead, it is opening up and interacting with the “old world”, and someone out there seems to be listening.

Among the numerous international participants, you’re going to find also Young Platform, represented on site by Diego D’Aquilio, CMO at Young Platform, who will have the chance to network with other experts and professionals in the field, to attend workshops about the latest developments of the technology and discussions on the hottest topics.

The conference promotes the exchange of visions between people coming from a vast range of career backgrounds and cultures, consequently stimulating the progress and expansion of the industry.

The goal is to find new ways for crypto-assets to interlock with the economical and financial systems in force, in a way that may benefit both parties, multiplying the chances and resources at all levels of business, from SMEs to state policies.

Young Platform Opens up 3rd Office at Level 39 in London

Young Platform looks at the international community: in London in one of the most important FinTech networks.

Young Platform opens up its third office in London at the launch of the equity crowdfunding on Seedrs, the English fundraising platform specialised in startups.

Since the 17th of June, investors have had access to the Public phase of the Young Platform fundraising campaign, which achieved the target of €500,000 in only 36 hours. The campaign is now overfunding with over 450 investors.

As a conclusion to this round, and with a view to internationalisation and market expansion, Young Platform has chosen Level 39.

Located in the middle of one of the world’s most important financial districts and the iconic One Canada Square, Level 39 is Europe’s largest FinTech incubator, which is home to many companies such as Revolut.

“Level 39 is an opportunity for Young to build a solid network of FinTech partners within the international market,” explains Diego D’Aquilio, CMO of Young Platform, “this will make the company’s growth faster and more effective.”

We are deeply convinced that the world of cryptocurrencies represents a form of financial freedom and everyone should be able to access it. With this goal in mind, our Operations Team is constantly working on international expansion, also by hiring international professionals to complete and consolidate the team.

Owned wholly by the Canary Wharf Group, Level 39 launched in March 2013. Since then, Level 39 has grown from a simple idea into a three-floor, 80,000 square foot community space occupying the 39th, 24th and 42nd floors of One Canada Square.

Today Level 39 is a community of 1,250 people, which are part of 220 companies from 48 nations, leaders in Cybersecurity,  FinTech and Retail Tech, a community that is shaping the future of finance and technology. In 2017 the members of Level39 have raised £100 million in investment.

“We are trying to make the world of cryptocurrency accessible to everyone” concludes Diego D’Aquilio CMO of Young Platform, “and we’re proud to be part of an ecosystem like Level 39, a place that reflects our values and goals.
