The European Central Bank (ECB) has an annual calendar with several scheduled meetings. Typically, it holds meetings twice a month; however, monetary policy decisions are discussed only eight times a year. The ECB’s calendar is divided into two categories: upcoming monetary policy meetings and non-monetary policy meetings.
Monetary policy meetings are held on Thursdays and are followed by a press conference featuring ECB President Christine Lagarde. What topics are discussed in each ECB monetary policy meeting? Key issues generally include growth and GDP in the Eurozone, quantitative tightening, inflation trends, and interest rates.

Except for the September meeting, which will take place at the Deutsche Bundesbank – the German central bank – all ECB meetings in 2026 will be held at the Eurotower in Frankfurt, the ECB’s headquarters. It will be chaired by the Governing Council of the European Central Bank, the institution’s main decision-making body.
This comprises President Christine Lagarde, Vice President Luis de Guindos, four members appointed from among the leading Eurozone countries, who hold office for eight years, and the governors of the national central banks.
