Smart working: Interview with Young Platform’s CEO

smartworking

The easy transition to smartworking of Young Platform as a dynamic and technologic startup

At Young, we have been smart-working for a couple of weeks now, as many have, and we want to bring our experience from the perspective of CEO Andrea Ferrero. So we asked him some questions.

I: Hi Andrea, let’s start from a practical point of view: how we made the transition?

Andrea: The main platform we have introduced for smart working is Discord. It’s a program that allows you to create different “rooms” where you can speak as if on a call, so it’s a bit like a real office.

We also decided to organize weekly meetings via Google Meet, where everyone presents a topic they specialized in and that can also be useful to the rest of the team. This period of stall allows us to invest time in personal education with such events, which are also opportunities to bring the team together in one place, even if it is virtual.

I: Young Platform is a startup, is this an advantage or a disadvantage during this period?

Andrea: As a startup, it was quite easy to switch to smart-working, by definition we face daily changes of all kinds and we are always ready to adapt. We were already using many digital tools for work-flow management and communication.

I: In what other aspects did Young Platform have to adapt to face the new conditions?

Andrea: These weeks are a further incentive to reinvent ourselves and to exploit our products and resources in new ways. One example is Step: an app that revolves around people who walk, run, stroll, and that stimulates them to do so as much as possible. In these conditions, our task must no longer be to stimulate people to get out and walk. That’s why we have focused on our other lever, Education.

The Education section of Step actually wants to be an educational portal for cryptocurrencies. A section that will grow more and more, with or without viruses.

I: So what was the solution found for Step?

Andrea: Also to encourage the use of the material we provide, we have introduced the quiz format, rewarding (with YNG) the effort to learn instead of walking.

It is nice, by the way, to see how e-learning is spreading on the internet: famous musicians teaching music for free and all kinds of teachers providing their knowledge and methods. We do the same thing, except that we were already doing it before.

I: How have the relationships between the people around Young Platform changed? Employees, investors and the team itself…

Andrea: As far as the communication with our investors is concerned, this is another element that we have converted to digital. Our work doesn’t stop, which is why correspondence with our stakeholders doesn’t have to stop either.

The first thing we have to pay attention to every day, however, is the team, made up of people who must be protected, who must remain close together despite the fact that the days are no longer the same, despite the fact that the meetings are through everyone’s screens. We are very lucky to be friends and to have known each other for a long time. We don’t feel that gap due to distance, instead, we keep joking and supporting each other. We work in constant communication on Discord. This allows us to recreate the same office atmosphere while maintaining the same productivity and focus.

I: As we’re sure everyone needs them, any positive thoughts on the situation in the industry?

Andrea: As a technology enthusiast and a fervent supporter of digitalisation, for obvious reasons, I am very happy with the digital education that this terrible phenomenon is making practically compulsory. It is certainly a challenge for many, but I am sure we will all benefit in the long run and many will discover new worlds, perhaps even our own world, that of cryptocurrency.

The first stablecoin to land on Young: USDC

usdc young

USCD in the Young Platform exchange, a stablecoin on the Ethereum blockchain and linked to the US dollar

Young is pleased to announce that as of today it will be possible to buy one of the most important stablecoins, USD Coin (USDC), on our exchange. Like all other stablecoins, USDC can be a fallback option in these times of high volatility in the markets.

What is USDC?

USDC is based on the Ethereum blockchain and is “pegged” to the US dollar, which means that each USDC represents 1 US Dollar.

Why USDC?

USDC is one of the stablecoins with the highest liquidity and market capitalisation.

Furthermore, it is a certified project whose reserves are audited every month by 5 accounting companies including Grant Thornton LLP.

How much is 1 USDC worth?

1 USDC = 1 $

This means that if, for example, I convert 1,000 Euros into USDC, I end up with the equivalent in US dollars.

Following this example: if 1€ corresponds to $1.11

1000 Euro = 1187.83 USDC

Which USD Coin pairs will be available on Young Platform?

USDC – EUR

USDC – BTC

USDC – ETH

What are the fees for USDC?

Fees for USDC range from 2.5% to 1.35%.

Euro – USDC: 2.5%

Bitcoin – USDC: 1.35%.

Ethereum – USDC: 1.35%.

Launch of the new Ranking suspended in compliance with the Ministerial Decree

According to the Ministerial Decree against Coronavirus the new Ranking of Young Platform Step is suspended but Young Platform keeps the other online services active!

The compliance with the directives of the Ministerial Decree, the sense of responsibility and the contribution to containing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) led us to the decision of postponing the launch of the new Step functionality, the new Ranking. For this reason, the implementation of this functionality will be rescheduled to a date to be defined. We are confident that you will understand our choice to safeguard everyone’s health.

The Young Platform team will remain operational in smart working and continue to create content, articles and guides that will keep you updated on the crypto market situation and on the strategies that will be put in place by the company to overcome the difficult situation in the best possible way, by dealing with it together with our community.

Data Protection and Security on Young Platform

For us at Young, the safety of our users comes first. We use the Identity Verification (KYC) procedure and Anti Money Laundering (AML).

When you buy and sell cryptocurrencies, you should operate on certified, reliable and compliant platforms. This is to protect your funds from potential fraud, criminals who try to create fake accounts to launder money or criminals who want to hack the system. The first form of security that an exchange platform must put in place to defend its users from these potential dangers is the Identity Verification (KYC) procedure.

Many are asking us what exactly the Identity Verification (KYC) procedure is and why it’s important, so we thought we’d prepare an article with everything there is to know about your security when you operate on the Young Platform exchange.

What is KYC?

The Know Your Customer procedure, better known as KYC, is nothing more than the identification process used by banks, financial intermediaries and even cryptocurrency exchanges to certify that a user is a real, natural person.

Cryptocurrency exchanges are considered by European legislation as real financial operators, so they are required to comply with the same rules as a bank. The procedure only takes a few minutes. The user must provide his or her ID, a photo of his or her face and indicate where he or she is domiciled and resident.

Our partner provider Onfido matches the user’s selfie with the photo on the ID and verifies that it is the same person. Simultaneously, it is able to report if the person has a serious criminal record, if he is a politically exposed person, a terrorist or subject to serious sanctions.

All potentially dangerous individuals are blocked and cannot create their account. This guarantees the Young Platform community, as well as the community of all exchanges that comply with European regulations, to work together with real, natural persons with no criminal record. Checks are performed periodically for the same purpose.

So to sum up, the main objective of KYC is to verify the identity of the user, with the dual purpose of protecting the user and the company from attempts at corruption, online fraud and money laundering practices.

How is my personal data used?

The idea behind the Privacy Policy is very simple: the protection of the user must be at the heart of any data collection process.

In particular, online platforms for financial activities such as the exchange Young Platform are designed from the very beginning with data protection in mind. This means that, by definition, the entire investment process on a regulated exchange is transparent, traceable and explicit.

The user’s personal data is stored and processed by Young Platform in this way and for these purposes:

  • Without being sold to third parties.
  • To allow customers and potential customers to access and use Young’s products and services.
  • To counter eventual cyberattacks and illegal activities such as abuse and misuse and to administer and update databases containing the user’s personal data.
  • To understand the feedback received on Young’s products and services and to provide additional information to customers and prospective customers on the use of these customized products and services in a quick and easy way.

What is AML or Anti-Money Laundering?

AML (Anti Money Laundering) refers to the preventive action and the campaign against money laundering. Money laundering and terrorist financing are criminal phenomena which, because of their global extent, pose a threat to the real economy and have serious destabilising effects on the banking and financial system.

In light of the dangerous nature of these phenomena, Young responds by setting up the Anti-Money Laundering Function, designed to prevent and tackle money laundering operations, by working with institutions and professionals.

Young’s Anti-Money Laundering Function complies with the 5th AML Directive issued by the European Union.
Young is also committed to raising awareness on the prevention and mitigation of money laundering and terrorist financing.

Litecoin (LTC) lands on Young Platform!

Litecoin is now tradable on Young Platform

LTC, the Litecoin crypto also called digital silver, is now available on Young Platform’s exchange

Among the cryptocurrencies available for trading on Young Platform is Litecoin (LTC). Discover the use cases and features of the first altcoin!

What is Litecoin?

Litecoin is one of the first blockchains to be created and it is nicknamed Bitcoin’s ‘little sister’. The project was founded in 2011 from an idea of former Google and Coinbase engineer Charlie Lee. It is to all intents and purposes a fork of Bitcoin’s source code, the two blockchains are very similar in this respect. However, the differences they have are related to the block validation time and hashing algorithm. Litecoin has tried to maintain the strengths of Bitcoin’s blockchain and at the same time improve its weaknesses. Like the parent blockchain from which it derives, Litecoin works according to the Proof-of-Work consensus mechanism: it is the miners who validate transactions through their computational power and who create the new blocks in the network.

What is LTC?

‘Altcoin’ is the term used to refer to all alternative cryptocurrencies to Bitcoin. The first crypto in this category to be developed is LTC. While Bitcoin is often referred to as ‘digital gold’, Litecoin is known as ‘digital silver’. So, what is Litecoin used for? The main use case for LTC is peer-to-peer payments. Since Litecoin can process transactions 4 times faster than BTC, payments are cheaper and faster.

Why did we choose LTC?

LTC is one of the blockchains that made the history of cryptocurrencies. In operation since 2011, it continues to guarantee fast, cheap, low-energy transactions without neglecting network security. Litecoin is trying to establish itself more and more as a network for small everyday payments. It is also a blockchain known for its focus on privacy. The network integrated the Mimblewimble protocol in 2022, which takes care of transaction privacy through five different cryptographic mechanisms.

Which pairs are available for LTC?

●     LTC-EUR

●     LTC-USDT

Young Platform was selected for Slush Helsinki

Today Young Platform had the pleasure to present its exchange platform at the greatest investors’ meeting in the world: Slush Helsinki.

Over the past five years, Slush has become the world’s largest venture capital fundraising event. In 2018, more than 1,800 investors joined Slush, representing a capital of over $200 billion. This year, the number of investors has risen to 2,000 and they are going to consider more than 3,500 startups at the Expo and Convention Center in Helsinki.

Young Platform at the Lisbon Web Summit: the journey continues

Lancement de l'échange au Lisbon Web Summit

In Lisbon to present the exchange Young Platform and talk about the future of blockchain.

Young Platform had the pleasure and the honor to attend the 2019 edition of the Lisbon Web Summit, the most important event dedicated to technology and startups in the world.

The numbers are impressive: during these 4 days (from 4 to 7 November) more than 70,000 people participated, including 1,500 investors and 2,000 journalists.

As far as the Young Team is concerned, CEO Andrea Ferrero, COO Alexandru Stefan Gheban, CTO Samuele Raimondo, CMO Diego D’Aquilio, Innovation Manager Alessandro Perillo and our Advisor Mariano Carozzi attended the event.

It was an indescribable emotion for us to be able to present our flagship product: the exchange Young Platform, with which you can buy and sell the main cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum in a simple, fast and secure way.

During these 4 days we have been able to exchange views with startups, entrepreneurs, investors and visitors from all over the world who gave us their feedback on our project.

On the opening night, we were impressed by Edward Snowden’s speech live from Russia that made us further understand how much a new phase of the web is needed (the so-called Web 3.0) of which the blockchain will be the backbone technology.

While speaking with the fintech market leaders (including Revolut and eToro) we established that the financial market is in great difficulty and that the “traditional” players will have to completely reinvent themselves if they want to survive.

The organisation of the event was quite impressive: hundreds of volunteers from all over the world helped make this experience memorable, also by making life easier for all of us exhibitors.

Ultimately, we can say that the Web Summit is an actual experience, and not just an event, from which we return motivated to achieve all the ambitious goals we have set for ourselves, starting with the official launch of our exchange Young Platform.

See you next year, Lisbon
